Just over a month ago, I had a goal: to change my lifestyle. That meant no more excuses, no more overeating, no more laziness. If I wanted to accomplish my goal, I knew I had to be diligent in everything I ate and every workout I chose to do.
My ultimate weight loss goal is to lose 70-100 pounds. It's going to take me a few months - or years - to get to that point, so I've been setting mini goals.
My first goal is to lose 20 pounds so I could use my pull-up bar. Little did I know when I bought the silly thing that there was a 250 pound weight limit on the bar. I knew that I had to lose those extra 20 pounds before I could become a pull-up master.
I guess I should back up and say that I have never - not ever - done one pull-up in my life. Even when I played football and was in best shape I've ever been in, I couldn't do it. I would just hang there, veins popping out of my head as I struggled to do one simple pull-up.
So I set a goal when I started working out this time. I was going to train myself to be able to do pull-ups. I knew that it would require weight loss and building muscles, but since I figured I was in for the long haul, I was ready to take it.
I don't plan on doing any actual pull-ups on the day I hit 250. I have, however, checked out quite a few YouTube videos on how to train to do a pull-up.
I can't wait to start trying.
